Snow and (not so) funny jokes
So we finally got our snow in this year. Only it’s March. March is such a terrible month. First it’s windy, then maybe a smattering of warm days are thrown in to make you think, “hey, spring is coming early this year”. Only it’s not. It’s Mother Nature’s funny joke. Like that joke your friends play on you that is really funny to everyone, but it just gets under your skin. Every. Single. Time. But it doesn’t matter, because every year Mother Nature trots out the joke, and every time I fall for it. About a week ago it was 65 degrees for a couple days. Now there’s 4 inches of snow on the ground and the high tomorrow is not going to reach 30, with lots of lion-like wind to accompany it. Thanks Mother Nature. Your jokes suck.
However, when bad weather hits, that usually means decent pictures.
The last one here makes me laugh. These teens were sledding, and just like teen boys are want to do, they create a jump and see how high and far they can go. I just wish his scarf were flying out behind him a little more. (photographer's side note: this was shot with a 14mm, full frame, no cropping...I was happy with that...)
This reminds me of 1996 or so when we had a big storm in the area. I was at GMU and we all went sledding down at the field house. And being of age, this meant everything was more fun, 1. If it was done at night, and, 2. done after drinking half a bottle of Goldschlager’s. So we would alternate shoving each other down the hill toward an enormous jump. My friend and I got behind this girl’s sno-nut, and ran, shoving her down the hill at what must have been terminal velocity. And then she hit the jump. And landed. And broke her leg. That was my funny joke.

She broke her ankle -- not her leg. Fibber
